Matthew Franks was born and raised in West Plains, MO in the county of Howell. He grew up spreading time with both his grandpas on their beef cattle farms learning what it took to have a successful farming operation. Matthew attended West Plains High School. He was actively involved in FFA during highschool. Elected to assistant Chapter Officer positions his freshman and sophomore years and Chapter President my Junior and Senior year. He was the first president in the history of the chapter to hold the office of President two years in a Matthew was also elected as an Area 10 FFA Officer and a State Camp Officer. During his time in FFA he received many awards including Star Chapter Greenhand, Star Chapter Farmer, Star Chapter Agri-businessman. He received both his State FFA Degree and his National FFA Degree. He obtained an associates and Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice through the University of Colorado and also attended Missouri State University-West Plains taking agriculture classes.
Matthew has served as an EMT, Volunteer Firefighter, as an Emergency 911 dispatcher, Howell County Sheriff’s Department reserve deputy, Police Officer and served on the WestPlains and Howell County SWAT team.
Matthew is currently employed as the Conservation Agent for Howell County. He says the best part of his job is introducing kids and adults to outdoor skills, Dutch oven cooking, and shooting sports. He enjoys working with landowners on their property and offering habit advice for them to maximize their property to its fullest potential to attract wildlife.
He is happily married to his wife of 10 years, Kayla. They have two girls ages 8 and 4. They live on a farm where run a beef cattle operation in partnership with his 83-year-old grandpa. Matthew loves the western way of life, in his spare time you can find him on the back of a horse working cattle or in a roping pen somewhere. They are members of the First Baptist Church of West Plains. He serves on several board of directors including the Junction Hill C-12 School Board, Howell County Farm Bureau board, Pioneer Saddle Club Board, West Plains FFA Advisory Board, Past President of the West Plains FFA Alumni Association, Local
National Wild Turkey Federation Chapter Committee Member, Local Quail Forever Chapter Committee Member.
