Cary is the Owner/Pres/CEO of United Country Aasness Auctions and Real Estate LLC and has been a professional auctioneer since 1985. As Owner and Lead Auctioneer of the Company, which specialize in Real Estate, Land, Equipment and Specialty Collections, Cary’s busy schedule is exceeded only by his passion for serving others through the industry for three decades, and a desire to lead his company into the next decade and beyond. Born and raised on a farm, around agriculture and being in the outdoors, he developed a love for the country, the land, the lakes, and everything around it. As a boy he dreamed of someday becoming an Auctioneer, selling equipment, land and livestock and more. Cary began his career as a young man fresh out of college and has never looked back, led by a passion for what he loves to do and to help solve people’s need in marketing and selling their lifelong assets. He developed an early passion to exceed expectations and provide the best. These philosophies, highlighted by perseverance and hard work, served him well and produced results as his career has mirrored the reflection of that desire. Aasness has conducted well over 6000 auctions, including auctions in the Midwest and across the nation
In 2005, Cary fulfilled a professional dream of a lifetime by being crowned the International Champion Auctioneer, winning the World/International 2005 IAC Championship at the NAA conference held that year in Pittsburg, PA. Cary is also a multiple Champion Auctioneer. In addition to the International Auctioneer Champion title, Cary holds the titles of 1997 Rsv and 2000 Rup All-Around World Champion Auctioneer, 1999 North Dakota Champion Auctioneer and 1992 Minnesota Champion Auctioneer.
He is an active member of the National Auctioneers Association, Minnesota State Auctioneers Association, North Dakota Auctioneers Association and Oklahoma Auctioneers Association. He also served as the Minnesota State Auctioneers Associations president in 2001, served on the MSAA board, the NAA Fundraising Auction and the IAC committees. As an international/World Champion, Cary has had the great privilege of judging several Auctioneer Championships including the IAC Auctioneer Championships, the 1st (IJAC) International Jr. Auctioneer Championship, the (GMLC) Greater Midwest Livestock Auctioneer Championship, as well as several state Auctioneer Championship contests across the United States. As an International Champion and NAA speaker, Aasness has conducted seminars across the nation with the honor and privilege in speaking and instructing, both on a state and national basis, on topics as Bid Calling, Positive Attitude, Real Estate Auctions, as well as other Auction Industry Topics. He is also privileged to have been an auction college instructor, including with the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City.
The United Country Aasness Auctioneers main office is in Fergus Falls, Mn, as well as auction satellite offices in Dalton & Bemidji, Mn and Pauls Valley, Okl. Led by Cary as owner of the company, the Aasness Team specializes in Real Estate, Land, Lakefront and Ag/Equipment Auctions along with Classic Tractors and Autos, Commercial and Specialty Collections including Firearms/Sporting, Antiques & Memorabilia. Cary also networks as an equipment Contract Auctioneer. In addition, he and his team conduct fundraiser auctions both regionally and across the nation, of which a highlight includes selling a fishing trip at a Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser Auction for a record setting $120,000, helping raise nearly one million dollars at the event to battle and champion Cystic Fibrosis. Cary has also worked as an auto auctioneer throughout his career, much highlighted by the year he won the IAC Championship. That year he was honored and privileged to be asked by Craig Jackson to be an auctioneer for the world renowned Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction 35th Anniversary Record Setting Auction, where over 125 million dollars of classic autos were sold in 6 days.
Cary and his wife Anita (UC Aasness Auctioneers Office Manager), have (3) children -Amanda, Megan (Chris) and Cody (Morgan) (Auctioneer/Realtor w/UC Aasness Auctioneers) along (4) grandsons and (1) granddaughter. Cary and Anita are both active in their church and community. In their spare time they raise American Quarter Horses/Cutting Horses and are avid members in the National Cutting Horse Association. Cary loves spending time with his family and is also is an avid sportsman/hunter, watching sports and likes to golf when he finds a moment.
