Premium Driftless Hunting Camp in Richland County,…
Hillsboro, WI
Richland
Richland
If you’ve been waiting for that once-in-a-generation hunting property—the kind you whisper about at deer camp—this is it. Tucked between Hillsboro and Richland Center, this 103.5-acre Driftless Region hunting camp delivers everything a serious whitetail hunter dreams of: rugged ridges, strategic food plots, water, access, and a history of true trophy-class bucks. Properties with this level of setup, habitat, and long-term success rarely hit the market.
This is the heart of Wisconsin’s legendary hill country—where the terrain folds and funnels whitetails like nowhere else. Three dominant ridge systems create natural bedding, travel routes, and rut-cruising corridors. Mature hardwoods, rocky outcroppings, tucked-away bottoms, and a meandering spring provide the kind of habitat that keeps big deer home year-round.
For the hunter who wants to step in and start hunting immediately, this property is fully turnkey. You’ll find 12 +/- acres of dedicated food—a buffet of clover, winter rye, soybeans, corn, and sorghum. There’s five elevated box blinds that overlook these plots, paired with nine treestands set for nearly every wind. A network of trails loops throughout the property, giving you stealthy access to stands without ever blowing out your best spots. This is the type of layout hunters spend years perfecting—and here, it’s already done.
After the hunt, retreat back to your rustic 2-bed, 1-bath cottage. A freestanding wood stove warms the space with that classic deer-camp crackle, supplemented by a wall-mounted LP heater. Well and septic system, you’ll have everything you need for your rut-cation, turkey opener, or summer work weekends.
A newer built 2022 40x60’ pole building with dual overhead doors is ready for tractors, UTVs, implements, stands, and gear. Whether you’re planting plots, hanging cams, or storing the toys, there’s room for it all and then some.
This neighborhood is widely known for Quality Deer Management, which is part of why the property carries such impressive trophy history in Southwest Wisconsin. Monster bucks don’t just pass through here—they live here.
If you’ve ever pictured owning a true Driftless hunting legacy—a place where family and friends gather, where trail cam cards make your hands shake, and where the ridges grow giants—this is your chance. Taxes per 2024 were $3,406/annually.
Reach out to schedule a private tour.

Set among rolling ridges, restored prairie, and spring-fed creeks that flow into the Kickapoo River, Windy Ridge has been managed with great care and respect for the land. Decades of thoughtful conservation have created a mosaic of 115± acres of mixed hardwoods, pine forest, apples and pears, 47+ acres of prairie, and 10+ acres of deer/wildlife food plots, 8+ acres are comprised of the farmstead and cabin — all supporting abundant wildlife and a healthy ecosystem. Deer Management on Windy Acres has been taken to the highest level! There are over 10 acres of food plots and over 20 deer stands (some box binds) located throughout the property. Quality Deer Management (QDM) has been practiced here for over 20 years by the owners and many neighbors. In fact, 3.5 year and older bucks are the rule rather than the exception. 4.5 year and older bucks are frequently caught on trail cameras, seen while on the deer stand, while sitting on the front porch of the cabin, and while touring or working on the property. The owners are founding members and active volunteers of the Coulee Country Branch, the local Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association (now named the National Deer Association), since its inception in 2016. The property has been enrolled in the Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) since 2015, and the owners were awarded the 2019 Cooperator of the Year Award! Detailed deer observation and harvest data are kept by the owners, an important part of both QDM and DMAP management programs.
More than 35,000 trees have been planted by the owners over the last 23 years. These include: Red and White Oak, White and Red Pine, Norway and White Spruce, Cherry, Hickory, Red and Sugar Maple, Apple, Pear, Chestnuts, and more. Several Maple stands offer syrup production potential.

Well here we are again with another fantastic property that I wish I could call my own! Where to begin....the income producing tillable acreage, the income producing timbered acreage, the fence lines, creek bottoms, food plots, fruit trees, multiple access points for hunting, the large ranch home, the pole barn and the list goes on.
Let's start with the approx 50 acres of tillable ground that is rented out to the local farmer, the current cash rent is $100 per acre, but easily could be increased. I walked the timber with a local logging company and was given an estimate of $40,000 to $100,000 in marketable timber depending on how 'hard' you cut it. The good stuff is white and red oak which is the predominant species on most of the timbered acreage. There are some very large oak trees out there as it was last timbered in the early 90's. What isn't mature timber is thick, brushy pockets of bedding habitat running along the Bad River and jutting out into the tillable fields.
The approx 1900 square foot home was built in the 1950's and has been very well cared for. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms all with large closets. The 2 car garage is insulated . There are two living rooms, one facing the road and one facing out the back where you have a great view of the fields and a few apple trees. Seller states there are deer in the yard all the time and had a couple 'shooter' bucks walking up the driveway this summer. There is a full basement for lots of storage and/or another family room as there is a fireplace both up and downstairs. A 30 by 40 all metal (roof and siding) pole barn makes room for small farm equipment and toys. No concrete floor, just dirt.
A new drainfield and septic tank are the most recent upgrades to the home. The cast iron plumbing was replaced with PVC at that time. The roof is newer as well being replaced 8-9 years ago.
While walking this property last week (end of October) I jumped an approx 140 inch buck. The seller just told me today (early November) that he missed an approx 130 incher and saw another in the 140's but couldn't get an arrow in him. There is a lot of room for habitat improvement and development on this property to make it that much better hunting. Let's take a walk so I can show you its potential!
